With the FIFA World Cup bringing fans from around the world to Kansas City, many people in Lee’s Summit are already wondering:
Will Kansas City host World Cup matches again?
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is the first time Kansas City has ever hosted matches, making it a historic moment for the region. From packed crowds at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium to the excitement of the FIFA Fan Festival, Kansas City has proven it belongs on the global soccer stage.
While we’d all love to see the World Cup return soon, the next two tournaments are already set. The 2030 FIFA World Cup will be hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, while the 2034 tournament is headed to Saudi Arabia.
That means the earliest opportunity for Kansas City to host another Men’s FIFA World Cup would likely be after 2034 if the United States or a North American partnership earns another hosting bid.
The good news is that Kansas City’s strong soccer community, passionate fans, and successful hosting of the 2026 matches could help attract other major international soccer events in the future, including FIFA Club World Cup matches, CONCACAF Gold Cup games, international friendlies, and potentially future Women’s World Cup events.
For now, soccer fans throughout Lee’s Summit and the Kansas City metro should enjoy every moment of the 2026 tournament. Opportunities to host the world’s biggest sporting event don’t come around often.
Whether you’re heading to Arrowhead Stadium, watching from the FIFA Fan Festival, or catching a match with friends, McCarthy Chevrolet Lee’s Summit is proud to be part of a community showing the world what Kansas City is all about. 🙂
