5 Chiefs Draft Picks We're Watching This NFL Season

Football season is almost here, Kansas City! Chiefs Kingdom is getting ready for another season of big plays, exciting matchups, and plenty of moments worth cheering about.

After adding seven players in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Chiefs have a new group of rookies ready to compete for their place in Kansas City. Here are five we're especially excited to watch this season.

1. Mansoor Delane — Cornerback

The Chiefs selected LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane with the No. 6 overall pick, making him the first player Kansas City selected in this year's draft.

As one of the newest faces on the roster, Delane will have plenty of eyes on him when the season gets underway. We're ready to see what he can do under the lights at Arrowhead.

2. Peter Woods — Defensive Tackle

Kansas City selected Clemson defensive tackle Peter Woods at No. 29.

Adding young talent to the defensive line gives Chiefs fans another rookie to watch as the defense comes together. We're hoping to see plenty of big stops and even bigger moments.

3. R Mason Thomas — EDGE

With the No. 40 pick, the Chiefs selected Oklahoma EDGE R Mason Thomas.

A player with the ability to pressure opposing quarterbacks is always exciting to watch. We're keeping an eye on Thomas as he makes the jump to the NFL.

4. Jadon Canady — Cornerback

Kansas City selected Oregon defensive back Jadon Canady with pick No. 109.

With another young player joining the secondary, Chiefs fans have plenty of new talent to watch when the defense takes the field this season.

5. Emmett Johnson — Running Back

The Chiefs selected Nebraska running back Emmett Johnson at No. 161 in the fifth round.

Now it's time to see how Johnson fits into the offense and whether he can turn his opportunities into some memorable rookie plays.

Football Season Is Almost Here

The Chiefs open the 2026 regular season at Arrowhead Stadium on September 14 against the Denver Broncos, giving Kansas City fans plenty to look forward to.

Then it's time for tailgates, packed parking lots, football Sundays, and another season of making memories with friends and family.

How to Prep for NFL Tailgating in a New Chevrolet

Football season is back, which means it's time for big plays, great food, good friends, and, of course, tailgating. Whether you're heading to a Chiefs game or hosting your own football gathering, the right Chevrolet can make hauling everything you need a whole lot easier. Here's how to get your Chevy ready for game day. 1. Pick the Right Chevrolet for Your Tailgate Start by thinking about what you're bringing with you. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a great option when you're hauling coolers, folding chairs, tables, grills, games, and other bulky tailgate gear. The truck bed gives you extra space without taking over the passenger cabin. Explore Chevrolet Silverado 1500 inventory Bringing the whole crew? The Chevrolet Traverse, Tahoe, and Suburban offer plenty of room for passengers and cargo. Explore Chevrolet SUVs at McCarthy Chevrolet Lee's Summit 2. Pack Your Tailgate Essentials Before you head out, make sure you have the game-day basics: Cooler and ice Food and cooking supplies Folding chairs Table Plates, cups, and utensils Trash bags Team gear Portable speaker Phone chargers Sunscreen And don't forget your tickets! 3. Make the Most of Your Space A little organization can help you fit everything without turning your vehicle into a storage unit. Use smaller storage areas for things like chargers, sunglasses, and other essentials, while keeping larger items together for easy unloading. Driving a Silverado? Use the truck bed for the bulky stuff. Bringing an SUV? Take advantage of available cargo space and flexible seating. 4. Bring Your Football Crew The more friends, the better the tailgate. The Traverse, Tahoe, and Suburban give you options when you need space for passengers, coolers, chairs, backpacks, and all the gear that somehow ends up coming along. Less vehicle Tetris. More football. 5. Get Your Chevrolet Ready for the Season Before you head out for game day, give your vehicle a quick check. Look at your tires, brakes, battery, fluids, lights, and windshield wipers. Taking care of routine maintenance ahead of time can help you avoid an unwanted fourth-quarter surprise on the side of the road. Schedule service at McCarthy Chevrolet Lee's Summit 6. Have a Game Plan for Getting Home Once the final whistle blows, secure your cargo, clean up your tailgate area, and make sure everyone has their belongings. And if you've been drinking, don't drive.
