Overview

The Bolt Returns, Built Better

Chevrolet's most affordable EV is back for 2027 after a brief hiatus, and it comes back sharper than before. The familiar hatchback shape carries over, refreshed with new front and rear fascias and updated lighting, but the real story is underneath the sheetmetal: an all-new battery chemistry and electric motor that fix the old Bolt's biggest weak point.

The new Bolt is assembled in neighboring Kansas, giving Lee's Summit area buyers a regional connection to the vehicle in their driveway.

The previous-generation Bolt charged at a maximum of just 55 kilowatts, a real limitation by today's standards. The 2027 Bolt switches to a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery pack that is cheaper to produce, holds the same 65 kWh of usable energy, and accepts DC fast charging at up to an estimated 150 kilowatts through its NACS charge port, a dramatic improvement for road-trip usability.
